To get better at playing your class you need to do several things. The primary thing is to be better at your own class and there is only one way of doing that - play it like you mean it. Log several pugs until you know every spell that your class has available.
When you feel experienced ehough with your class it is time to study! Boring but oh so usefull. Knowing your enemies spells better than they do is key to getting an advantage. When faced with a Hunter that knows all of your tricks it comes down to whom can counter the other player best.
In raids you do well to know your class to the fullest but also what and why the other classes are doing what they are doing. Communicating with to your class leader and most of all asking your class leader questions is a great technique of knowing your class to the fullest.
Most important in raiding is patience and if you master that as a person you will quickly advance in your guild.
